Relationship history

Sam Kerr is married to American footballer Kristie Mewis. Their relationship became public in 2021, followed by an engagement in 2023 and a New Year’s Eve wedding in Western Australia in 2025. They share a son, Jagger.

Kerr and Mewis have described their relationship developing through Instagram conversations during the pandemic, before they could spend time together in person. In GAFFER, Kerr explained how they later managed distance with small milestones, shared viewing and calls, helped by each understanding the other’s commitment to football.Source: GAFFER ↗

Looking back on their wedding in a January 2026 club interview, Kerr said Mewis had led much of the planning over two years. Football shaped the timing afterwards: Kerr returned directly to Chelsea’s winter camp and said the honeymoon would have to wait until the summer.Source: Chelsea FC ↗

Kerr previously had a long-term relationship with fellow footballer Nikki Stanton. They met as Sky Blue FC teammates in 2014 and had separated by the time Kerr went public with Mewis in 2021.
