Marten Glotzbach

Football coach and teacher

Marten Glotzbach is a Dutch football coach and teacher who has worked in youth and senior women’s football at ADO Den Haag. After joining the club’s girls’ development programme in 2018, he became first-team head coach in December 2024. The club later ended his contract early. He is married to England head coach Sarina Wiegman, who has described his support for her coaching career. Their daughters, Sacha and Lauren, have also played football.

THE BACKGROUND

Career and background

ADO Den Haag appointed Glotzbach from its under-17 programme in December 2024. He had coached in the girls’ academy since 2018/19, initially with the under-16s, and had already worked with many of the players who progressed to the senior team. In the appointment announcement he stressed that professional selection decisions would come before family ties, as his daughter Lauren was part of the squad.Source: ADO Den Haag ↗

The club subsequently terminated his first-team contract before its planned mid-2026 end date, citing results while thanking him for his development work.
