Iker Casillas

Former footballer

Iker Casillas is a Spanish former goalkeeper who captained Spain to the 2010 World Cup title and won two European Championships. A Real Madrid academy graduate, he played 725 official matches for the club and won three Champions Leagues. He finished his playing career at Porto and retired in 2020.

Casillas’s sporting reputation also brought recognition for cooperation across club rivalries. Relationship history

Casillas and Sara Carbonero were publicly together by 2010 and married in 2016. They have two sons, Martín and Lucas. In March 2021, they announced their separation in a joint statement and said they would continue raising their children together.

Before Carbonero, Casillas had an on-and-off relationship with presenter Eva González during the 2000s. He was also photographed with Ana Isabel Medinabeitia in 2009. In 2021, Ruth Sanz publicly described an earlier relationship with him; that account remains attributed to her.

Later reporting linked Casillas to journalist Ana Quiles and model Ana Martín in 2023, without a jointly confirmed relationship. Claudia Bavel publicly described a relationship with him in January 2025. Casillas subsequently issued a statement objecting to the coverage of his private life rather than offering a public account of that relationship.

In 2026, Casillas has been linked to actress Irene Esser. After photographs of them together and joint appearances, Esser said in September that they were still getting to know one another. They were pictured together again with friends in October. Their relationship is listed as reported, with no exact private start date.
