THE BACKGROUND

Career and background

Dele joined Tottenham from MK Dons in January 2015 and initially remained with his hometown club on loan. Once he arrived in north London for the 2015/16 season, he quickly became a regular and an England international. His first two campaigns brought consecutive PFA Young Player of the Year awards and places in the PFA Team of the Year.Source: Tottenham Hotspur ↗

Over seven years at Spurs he made 269 competitive appearances and scored 67 goals. His attacking midfield play made him an important contributor during that period. He also earned 37 senior England caps, making his debut against Estonia in October 2015 and representing the national team at Euro 2016 and the 2018 World Cup.Sources: Tottenham Hotspur ↗ · The Football Association ↗

His later career included Everton and a loan spell with Beşiktaş before a new opportunity at Como in January 2025. The Italian club described plans for gradual integration into the squad and valued the experience he could offer younger players. He has continued working towards a return to competitive football. Sky Sports listed him among the available free agents in September 2026. Later that month, Barnet manager Dean Brennan confirmed he had been using the club’s facilities and publicly welcomed him to train with the squad. Those sessions were part of his fitness work rather than a new playing contract.Sources: Sky Sports ↗ · Sky Sports ↗
