THE BACKGROUND

Career and background

Jama has described building her career by taking any opportunity involving a microphone, inspired by presenters including Davina McCall, June Sarpong and Miquita Oliver. By her 2023 Vogue cover interview, that broadcasting career had also led to work in fashion, including campaigns for Dolce & Gabbana and Rimmel London and modelling for Self-Portrait.Source: British Vogue ↗

WHO’S WITH WHOM

Relationship history

Maya Jama and Rúben Dias publicly addressed their breakup in June 2026. Dias said their relationship had been based on mutual respect and rejected claims that either had betrayed the other.

In that interview, Jama drew a boundary between presenting television and making her own life a reality programme. She said public interest in her relationships had followed her work, rather than being something she had deliberately invited, and that she wanted to keep parts of her personal life private.Source: British Vogue ↗

Jama previously dated rapper Stormzy from 2014 to 2019. They reunited in 2023 before announcing another separation in July 2024. In between, she was engaged to basketball player Ben Simmons; that relationship ended in 2022.

She has also spoken about her first love, Rico Gordon, who died in 2011 when she was a teenager.
