Fundación Xana co-founder and trustee

Elena Cullell is a Spanish foundation co-founder and trustee. Alongside her husband, football coach Luis Enrique, she helped establish Fundación Xana in memory of their daughter, who died in 2019. The organisation supports children and young people with serious illnesses and their families. Its official governance register identifies Cullell as a founding trustee and member.

THE BACKGROUND

Career and background

Fundación Xana describes its mission as supporting seriously ill children and adolescents in vulnerable circumstances, with attention to physical, emotional and social wellbeing. The foundation received the 2025 Sócrates Prize at the Ballon d’Or ceremony. Its work was later recognised during a reception with Prince Albert II of Monaco, attended by Cullell and her sister Bela. Relationship history

Cullell and Luis Enrique married on 27 December 1997 at Santa María del Mar in Barcelona. They have three children: Pacho, Sira and Xana. Xana died in August 2019 at the age of nine. The couple subsequently established the foundation bearing her name; she remains part of their family history.
