Anika Bissel, also known as Anika Neuer, is a German handball player who played on the left wing for ESV 1927 Regensburg. She joined the club for the 2021–22 season after playing for SG H2Ku Herrenberg. Following the 2024–25 campaign, she took a break from competition to spend more time with her son. She is married to goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Her club described the break as a pause.

Career and background

Bissel established herself in Germany’s second-tier handball league with Regensburg. After a back operation prevented a competitive appearance in her first season there, she scored 71 league goals in 25 matches during 2022–23. Following the birth of her son Luca, she returned to training in August 2024 and again contributed regularly to the side.Source: ESV 1927 Regensburg ↗

When the club announced her planned break in May 2025, she had appeared in all 27 league matches played that season and scored 84 goals. The decision reflected the travel required between the Tegernsee area and Regensburg, alongside family commitments.
